Ethiopian team won first place in the Huawei Tech4Good regional competition held in Morocco

The Huawei Seeds for the Future 2024 Training Program was held in Morocco (Essaouira) from July 3rd to July 9, 2024. This training involved 17 African countries (East, North, West, and Central Africa). Ten Ethiopian students from eight universities were given the opportunity to participate in the training.

The students have been trained in cutting-edge technology before competing in the Tech4Good global project. Students were divided into 28 groups and developed projects for competition; Team Ethiopia, which included five students, won first place, followed by Team Morocco. As a result, the two winning teams from the Tech4Good regional competition will go to China for the global final in 2025.

The project’s name is EarlyVet, and it focuses on technology that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to aid in the early detection of animal ailments. According to the student’s presentation, their plan focuses on accomplishing the second and fifteenth Sustainable United Nations goals.

Liming Ye, Huawei Ethiopia PR director, honored team Ethiopia and stated that Huawei’s Seeds for the Future mission is to make sure that young talents have access to the necessary skillsets and mindsets to commence in a fast-changing world.
