Positive masculinity for gender equality

“The Role of Fathers (ArifAbbat) in modeling positive masculinity” was the topic of a panel discussion organized by the Embassy of Sweden that was held at the Addis Ababa Museum on Thursday.
The panel discussion was followed by an official reception and opening of the exhibition in the presence of high government officials, diplomatic and international communities, gender activists and other invited guests.
This photo exhibition organized with the collaboration of Setaweet movement, featured photos of Ethiopian dads that were selected from a photo competition held in Ethiopia couple of weeks ago based on their messages that contribute to the gender equality and father’s shared responsibilities in raising children in the Ethiopian community.
The exhibition also featured photos from the “Swedish Dads” photo exhibition by the photographer, Johan Bävman which is being exhibited in different parts of the world.
The aim of the exhibition is to show, through personal narratives, the advantages of sharing parental leave and generate discussion on and awareness of the role of parents/fathers and boost international interest in and understanding of the advantages of gender equality in parenthood.
