President Kenyatta gives support to Ethioipa’s new PM

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has said his country will give full support for Ethiopian new Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) to help him achieve his vision for his country and for the region.
In an exclusive interview with VOA, Kenyatta said, “…I have committed to give Kenya’s total support. I believe that he has a vision for his country and he has a vision for the region as well. And I intend to work very closely with him to establish that.
“We are very happy with the situation as we see it … the rapprochement of power between Ethiopia and Eritrea. All this works for peace in our region. All this works for stability in our region and for us to be able as a region to focus not on insecurity or wars but rather to focus on economic growth and prosperity of our people.
“… I look forward to working together with Abiy as a partner to be able to achieve that objective. I wish him well. I continue to say I am strongly in support of what he’s doing together with his other colleagues in Ethiopia to help achieve this dream for us all.”
At the invitation of the President Kenyatta, Prime Minister Abiy made a State Visit to Kenya from May 6-7, 2018.
During the visit, the two leaders focused their discussions on critical bilateral, regional, and global matters.
At the bilateral level, they re-emphasised the great historical foundation on which the two nations have continued to build their bilateral relations and agreed that the vision of the forefathers to points to a future of shared values, culture and tradition.
The two leaders further emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation that inspires prosperity of the people of the two countries.
They committed to the development of LAPSSET, the Northern Corridor including road network between Isiolo, Moyale through to Addis Ababa and the railway from Addis Ababa to Nairobi. Both sides agreed to finalise the Ethiopia-Kenya interconnection transmission line.
