ECMA Licenses Three New Service Providers

The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) has licensed three new Capital Market Service Providers (CMSPs), expanding the country’s financial services landscape from eight to eleven providers.

This significant development follows a rigorous vetting process and aims to deepen investment services ahead of the full launch of Ethiopia’s stock exchange market. The newly licensed institutions include First Addis Investment Bank Plc as an Investment Bank, alongside Ignite Capital Plc and Zuri Capital S.C., both licensed as Securities Investment Advisors.

The entrance of First Addis Investment Bank into the investment banking sector is expected to enhance corporate finance activities, securities distribution, and capital raising efforts within the market.ECMA Director General Hana Tehalku emphasized the critical role of these new players, stating, “We underscore the importance of their role in advancing Ethiopia’s Capital Market.” She further encouraged the new licensees to contribute actively toward building an inclusive, transparent, and resilient financial system.
