Ethiopian professional associations secure bid for 2027 continental business summit

By Our Staff Reporter

Ethiopia has been officially selected to host the 2027 Africa Commerce Convergence Summit (ACCS) in Addis Ababa, following a decision announced at the closing of the 2026 summit in Livingstone, Zambia.

The announcement was made by David Gowu, President of TICON Africa, during the landmark gathering, which brought together professionals from marketing, information communication technology (ICT), and supply chain disciplines from roughly 30 countries. The confirmation was met with enthusiastic celebration by the Ethiopian delegation.

Ethiopia’s successful bid was spearheaded by a collaborative coalition of three professional associations: the Ethiopian Marketing Professionals Association (EMPA), the Information Communication Technology Association of Ethiopia (ICT-ET), and the Ethiopian Logistics and Supply Chain Association (ELSA). These organizations will work closely with their continental counterparts to steer preparations for the 2027 event.

The ACCS serves as a strategic platform uniting three core continental bodies: the African Marketing Confederation (AMC), TICON Africa, and the African Supply Chain Confederation (ASCON). This convergence highlights how marketing, technology, and supply chain professions are increasingly intertwined and vital to driving Africa’s long-term economic development.

Gowu remarked that Ethiopia’s selection demonstrates the growing strength of its professional communities and its rising prominence in Africa’s commerce ecosystem. Fana Abay, President of EMPA, noted that this milestone will provide a vital platform to showcase the country’s multifaceted capabilities and foster deep-rooted connections with stakeholders across the continent.

The 2027 summit is expected to welcome thousands of professionals, innovators, business leaders, policymakers, and development partners from across Africa. The decision arrives as African businesses increasingly operate across borders under the continent’s broader push toward regional trade, integrated markets, and the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
