Better legal Migration for Ethiopia

On March 13, 2019 a cartoon exhibition was held in the GTZ office, in the presence of conspicuous organizations such as Timret le Hiwot Ethiopia, Expertise France, and GTZ. To make a point about migration, this event was exclusively funded by GTZ and organized by Timret le Hiwot Ethiopia. Timret le Hiwot Ethiopia is a company that works with different professional and well-known artists. These artists often come up with ideas that are mostly concerned with current issues and reflect them through art.

This cartoon exhibition was a comic sketched by Sirak Yelma, Bisrat, and Leykun. These artists tried to reflect their ideas by showing how hard and hateful migration can be when it is done in the wrong way (illegally) and it can also be quite propitious in some cases. By referring to various successful and influential individuals such as Serget Brin (place of birth: Russia citizenship: America occupation: computer scientist and entrepreneur), Mohandas Karamchand Gandi (place of birth: India, an immigrant to South Africa occupation: politician lawyer peace activist, philosopher). They were also able to come up with current political ideas.
Mr. Josh, the coordinator of this exhibition, gave his opening speech by welcoming all the guests and stated that the preeminent goal of this event is to make migration better and legal. He also explained that it is important to meticulously inspect why people leave their home country behind and immigrate to different countries, in order to help them see other options they didn’t consider. He also explained that migration is a sensitive issue for other countries as well.

Artist Sirak Yelma later in the evening got a chance to mention in his speech that he and his friend were planning to immigrate when they come up with the idea to make migration better and legal. He also said that this idea is more sensitive and relatable from any of his previous ones.
