“Memories of Home” is a poignant exhibition that explores the complex emotions and experiences of displacement, longing, and nostalgia. Through his art, Mapuku Ekpomi Jean-Gerard captures the essence of what it means to leave one’s homeland and start anew in a foreign land. His paintings are a testament to the resilience and strength of the human spirit, as he depicts scenes of everyday life in his native Congo juxtaposed against the unfamiliar landscapes of Ethiopia.
The exhibition is said to be a powerful reminder of the challenges faced by refugees and immigrants around the world, and serves as a call to action for greater compassion and understanding towards those who have been forced to flee their homes.
It is crystal clear that any visitor to the exhibition will be moved by Jean-Gerard’s stunning artwork, which offers a unique perspective on the immigrant experience. Doors to the exhibition will remain open to the public till June 12th, 2023.
