National Business Portal expansion project inaugurated

The successful completion of a project to expand the National Business Portal (NBP) of Ethiopia was inaugurated today in a ceremony held at the Haile Grand Hotel in Addis Ababa.

The NBP – www.new.business.gov.et – is a web-based platform through which applicants can process a number of government services online, where the government electronic services (e-services) and the e-service providing government agencies are brought together in a centralized platform.

The portal was initially developed by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MInT) in 2019. In the beginning, the portal offered a one-stop service for various processes delivered by the Addis Ababa City Administration (AACA) only, such as issuance construction permits and registration of property.

Since the launch of this innovative service was assessed to have resulted in a tremendous improvement on the service delivery, time efficiency, and a decreased transaction cost for both the public and the service providers, MInT initiated a plan to expand and scale up the services to other parts of the country.
