Super League promotion deciding fixtures on Monday

The deciding games of the 2017 Ethiopian Super League season “Group B” promotion will take place on Monday featuring top spot Debub Police visiting minnows Diredawa Police while seventh place Hadiya-Hossana entertains runner-up Jimma AbaBuna. The winner of the group will book an automatic promotion to the upper tier whereas the groups’ runner-ups will battle for a third place play-off with the winner joining the other two at the Premier League’s new season.
Though the group “A” winner Baherdar trumpeted a promotion and Shere Enda Selassie finished runner-up, group “B” table tops stayed crowded until Debub Police emerged in the top spot two points clear of second place Jimma AbaBuna.
With seventeen wins, seven draws and five defeats Debub Police faces 14th in the table with just 27 points Diredawa Police tomorrow. In the other fixture 56 points AbaBuna travels to Hossana to encounter the home side 7th place with 41 points. It appears a hard task for  AbaBuna because they need to score at least four goals to win automatic promotion and Debub Police must lose.
Spearhead by Kenyan veteran Eric Muranda and Biruk Elias each with 12 goals and Behailu Wegne with eleven goals, Debub Police appear to be a clear favorite over home side Diredawa Police thus likely to win the automatic promotion. The rivalry between the two former Premier League sides’ Hoassana and AbaBuna is a huge factor going against the visitors.
