CBE, Safaricom Ethiopia deepen roots by inking MOU

Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) and Safaricom Ethiopia sign an MOU to root their strategic partnership.
As announced during the ceremony, the strategic partnership in part will draw on the duo’s expertise to provide better services to customers and improve the financial service delivery of the bank.

“The partnership now demonstrates a shared commitment to enhance customer satisfaction and innovation. Jointly we will develop an integrated solution that adds to the country’s digital and financial inclusion agenda. We strongly believe that our partnership would be mutually beneficial and strategically important to create a greater synergy,” stated, Abe Sano, President of CBE.
Customers can now simply top up airtime at no cost using the CBE Mobile Banking application, CBE USSD (*889#), or CBE Birr Mobile application, and CBE Birr USSD (*847#) options in addition to buying from Safaricom’s branded shops and souks, as was mentioned.
“This is a tremendous accomplishment for us, and we’re excited about what the future contains for our clients. We have accessed comparable services over the past month from Bank of Abyssinia, Awash Bank, and Nib International Bank, and we plan to extend to additional banks, microfinance institutions, and technology companies,” read the telecommunication company’s statement.
