In the first half of the fiscal year, Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics (ESL) reported a profit of 9.3 billion birr

In the first half of the fiscal year, Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics (ESL) reported a profit of 9.3 billion birr. As the continent’s sole deep-sea vessel operator, ESL announced that its profits for this period in the 2024/25 fiscal year exceeded expectations by 150%. CEO Berisso Amallo indicated that the company aimed to achieve 6.2 billion birr during this timeframe. Instead, it surpassed its revenue target, earning 46.8 billion birr against a goal of 44.1 billion birr. The CEO attributed this profit increase primarily to macroeconomic reforms that have liberalized the foreign exchange market.
