China stands ready to be the partner of Ethiopia– Ambassador

In a message delivered on the occasion of the Gregorian New Year, the Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Chen Hai, expressed his gratitude and admiration for the country’s rich history, vibrant civilization, and industrious people during his first four months in office.

Ambassador Chen highlighted the remarkable transformations occurring in Addis Ababa, often referred to as the “heart of Africa.” He shared personal experiences of exploring the coffee harvests in Yirgacheffe and the scenic views at Lake Hawassa, emphasizing the region’s allure and cultural significance.

Reflecting on 2024, he noted Ethiopia’s substantial achievements, including its inaugural participation in the BRICS Summit since joining the organization. The signing of the Ankara Declaration aimed at promoting regional stability, alongside ongoing national dialogue, underscores Ethiopia’s commitment to peace and prosperity.

Sudanese Army Says It Destroyed Emirati Plane in Darfur

The Sudanese army said on Monday it had destroyed an Emirati cargo plane supplying the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Nyala, South Darfur, on Saturday. The army said in a statement that its air force had conducted a series of strikes on RSF positions in Nyala, including the airport, which it said the RSF had been using to receive weapons and evacuate wounded fighters. “The air force succeeded… in striking an Emirati cargo plane as it was taking off from Nyala airport, leading to its crash,” the statement said. The army also said it had destroyed drones west of Nyala and killed foreign nationals who were on the roof of a building near Nyala Technical College. Reuters could not independently verify the army’s account. In a short statement, the RSF accused the army of targeting civilians in Nyala with barrel bombs, resulting in numerous casualties. 90% of Oil Wells in Sudan’s East Darfur Destroyed

About 90 percent of the oil wells in Sudan’s East Darfur State have been completely sabotaged and vandalized as copper and electrical wires were stolen by unknown persons before some of the wells were set ablaze. 23 out of 36 wells were operating in the state’s oil fields since 2016 run by the Chinese Petro-Engine and Sharf companies. The director of the Jad Al-Sayed Administrative Unit in Abu Karinka Locality, Hussein Ahmed Hussein, told Radio Tamazuj that the damage to the oil wells in the Shaq Omar area was a great blow…Ahmed called for efforts to stop the deliberate destruction of a public resource to preserve what remains of the wells and to ward off environmental hazards such as oil leakage from pipelines.
