AbaJifar’s signing extravaganza: Mesoud, Alula and Elias

With Gebremedin Haile undermining new adventures (defending a title and African Champions League participation), Ethiopian Premier League champion Jimma AbaJifar launching its new season’s build up in appointing a proven failure Zemariam W/Giorgis who started building a full squad from the scratch Ethiopia Bunna long time skipper Mesoud Mohammed and Dedebit and national team veteran defender Seyoum Tesfaye are among the new signings.
The head coach who twice runs away in mid-season for lame excuses (Fasil and Woldya) is now in full command of the champions’ build-up signing not less than twelve players mostly veterans who had been in the show more than a decade and some travelling around like a Bedouin.
Ethio-Electric and Ethiopia Bunna skipper former champion Mesoud Mohammed, Saint George, NegedBank, twice with Ethiopia Bunna play maker Elias Mamo, more than a decade and with four League title full back Alula Girma and Sululta, Hawassa and twice with Ethiopia Bunna Aschalew Girma are considered the big fishes who put pen to paper for the coming two years. Though Elias is notorious for unsettling and Alula long in treatment for injury, Zemariam appeared to have confidence on them to help him out in hard times.
Long with Saint George, but just half a season in active goal keeping with Ethiopia Medin Zerihun Tadelle, formerly with NegedBank and Adama full back Sisay Tole, defenders Kedir Hayredin, Henok Gemtesa and Yisak Mekuria all three from Fasil are the other signees for Jimma AbaJifar the defending champions that kicked-off their preseason a week ago. It is surprising how nine players could walk out from a champion side but signing twelve players to defend the title is a bizarre hard to understand.
