Rapid urbanization—once a major risk factor for disorder—has been managed through long-term planning and sustained investment, helping avoid the systemic breakdowns seen in many fast-growing economies.
Another critical factor is organizational reach. With nearly 100 million members integrated across government institutions, state-owned
enterprises, and private sector entities, the CPC operates as a deeply embedded governance network. This allows for policy continuity and execution at a scale that many countries struggle to replicate.
For African policymakers, the implications are both relevant and cautionary. Across the continent, long-ruling parties often lose legitimacy when delivery fails, while reform agendas falter in the absence of strong institutions.
