Premier appoints General Seare Mekonnen as Chief of Staff of National Defense Force of Ethiopia

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) appointed General Seare Mekonen as the new Chief of Staff of the National Defense Force of Ethiopia effective June 7.
He will replace General Samora Yunis, who retired the same day.
“The nation will be forever grateful to General Samora for his distinguished services,” Fitsum Arega, Chief of Staff at the Prime Minister’s office tweeted.
He was awarded Ethiopia’s highest military honor.
General Samora served the military for the past 42 years.
The Premier also decided to restore stars and full ranks to Major General Alemeshet Degfe and Brigadier General Asaminew Tsgie.
The two Generals were stripped off their stars and ranks in the past but will now retire with their full pension.
