Britain ready to assist Ethiopia with investigations related to Saturday’s grenade attack
British Ambassador to Ethiopia, Susanna Moorehead, said her country is ready to assist Ethiopia with investigations related to a grenade attack at a rally held last Saturday.
Two people were killed and over 150 others injured in the attack at the rally staged in the capital Addis Ababa to show support for the reform agenda of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD).
At a discussion held with Ethiopia’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Prof AfeworkKassu, the ambassador expressed Britain’s readiness to assist Ethiopia with investigations related to the attack.
She also conveyed her message of condolences to the victims, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Moorehead further commended Ethiopia’s role in brokering peace between the warring parties in neighboring South Sudan.
During their meeting, the two sides discussed on ways to further strengthening cooperation between Ethiopia and Britain in the areas of development, trade, investment, peace and security, among others.
PM office forms committees to investigate conspiracies being committed to deter ongoing reforms
The Prime Minister office announced the establishment of committees to investigate the conspiracies being committed to deter ongoing reforms in the country.
According to a statement issued by the office today, the committees will bring perpetrators to justice once the investigations are completed.

In addition to the bomb attack, there was a power outage and network connections were unavailable on that day to disrupt the rally, the office said in a statement.
It added there are also organized attempts to cause economic harm, create an inflation flare-up and disrupt service delivery of public enterprises.
The office said the committees are working in collaboration with various bodies to bring conspirators to justice.
The office finally called on the public to cooperate with the committees for the success of the efforts being made to bring perpetrators to justice.
Suspects in Saturday’s Addis Ababa bomb attack appear in court
A total of 26 suspects in Saturday’s Addis Ababa bomb attack, including Girma Kassa, deputy commissioner of Addis Ababa police commission, appeared in court on Monday June 25.
Nine of them were detained on suspicion of throwing a hand grenade at the huge rally staged at the Meskel Square in the capital Addis Ababa.
The other 17 suspects were detained for negligence.
The Federal First Instance court gave police 14 days to finalize collecting information about the suspects.
