Ethiopia launches e-visa service to all international Visitors
The Ethiopian Immigration and Nationality Affairs Main Department in collaboration with Ethiopian Airlines has launched an e-visa service for all international visitors to Ethiopia effective June 01, 2018.
Though the e-visa service initially launched in June, 2017 was available for a limited number of countries, under the new initiative all international visitors will be able to travel to Ethiopia by processing their visa online.
The e- visa is processed and issued online on a single webpage where applicants apply, pay and secure their entry visa online. Once the application is approved, applicants will receive an email authorizing them to travel to Ethiopia and they will get their passport stamped with the visa upon arrival in Addis Ababa.
Regarding the newly revamped service, Group CEO Ethiopian Airlines, Tewolde GebreMariam remarked, “Ethiopia, the oldest independent civilization in Africa and one of the oldest in the world, is endowed with historical places, natural beauty, colourful and diverse cultural activities and various endemic wild animals which are of great interest to international tourists. However; we have not made best use of these natural resources to attract large number of tourists. To this effect, this project is part of a new national initiative to transform the tourism sector in the country.
Emirates Skywards introduces enriched family programme to allow 100% pooling of Miles
Emirates Skywards has revamped its family offering to provide a richer, more rewarding programme called ‘My Family’. Family members can now pool up to 100% of Skywards Miles earned on Emirates flights, allowing them to redeem rewards faster than before.
Each member can pool up to 100% of their miles earned on Emirates flights and the nominated contribution of Miles from each member can be adjusted at
any time. Emirates Skywards has a global membership of 20 million and all members are eligible to join ‘My Family’. Each account can have up to 8 family members including a nominated Family Head. “We’re always working to enhance our offerings to ensure our members are given greater value, choice and flexibility at every touchpoint across the Emirates Skywards programme. The new enriched ‘My Family’ programme will provide our members with a better, more intuitive customer experience, allowing them to consolidate up to 100% of Skywards Miles earned on Emirates to reap faster rewards as well as tailor the proposition to meet their travel needs,” said Dr Nejib Ben Khedher, Senior Vice President, Emirates Skywards.
